Legal Disclosures
These disclosures explain what PersProtect is — and is not — and the rights you have under U.S. privacy laws. They supplement our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
FCRA — we are not a consumer reporting agency
PersProtect is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. The breach reports, exposure scores, and broker findings we show you are for your own personal privacy protection only. You may not use PersProtect, or any information obtained through it, to make decisions about credit, employment, housing, insurance, tenant screening, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA.
DPPA — no motor vehicle or driver records
PersProtect does not collect, sell, or provide motor vehicle records, driver's license data, or other information protected by the Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), 18 U.S.C. § 2721 et seq. We only search for and help remove the personal information you provide about yourself (and people on your plan who have consented).
Personal use only
PersProtect is a tool for protecting your own information, or that of people on your plan who have consented. It is not a background-check, people-search, or investigation service, and may not be used to surveil, locate, or investigate others without authorization.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you and how we use it.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
- Opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose other than providing the service you signed up for. To exercise any of these rights, email legal@persprotect.com from the address on your account; we verify requests before acting and respond within the timeframes the law requires.
